Amanda Hedger Portrait, Counselling Training Development

With a rich breadth of experience and training for working with the legacies of past trauma as well as the current challenges that life presents, I take a trauma-informed approach to working with individuals with varying needs and goals. I work in different ways to come alongside you, based on your preference and situation. I like to work with your natural potential to heal and grow by providing you with an empathic listening space that promotes insightful awareness, and if desired, tools that bring resolution to the areas that you want to heal and move on from.

Working with Autistic Clients – The counselling Tutor April 2026

My first counselling placement was in 2003 and I have been working with clients ever since.

After qualifying I worked for two local counselling charities gaining experience and developing the vision for a local counselling service. I was fortunate to be involved in the establishment of Tonbridge Counselling Service and for the last several years I have been kept busy leading and managing this local service. I have tutored on many counselling training courses from beginners to fully qualified.  This experience has given me an extensive understanding of the many different reasons why people seek counselling, as well as professional insight into which areas my skills are most effective. Although I have been involved in many aspects of the counselling profession, working with individuals has remained a central focus to everything I do.

When I am not working, I love to foster creativity of thought and action, and to find resonance with other people and things. This finds expression in the arts & crafts, walking and the outdoors.
